Cooking Can be Tiring, So it’s Spa Night! May 1, 2011
Once a week or so, Ava and I have a S.P.A. night, Special Personal Ava night. Sometimes we luck out and it’s just us. Other nights like tonight, not so personal or private. But no matter what Ava get’s that I am FOCUSED on her. It’s good for both of us. Av loves it and that’s what matters most. Sometimes, we just do her hair, or when I am pressed for time, she gets special bath salts only and a foot massage in bed. It helps her AND I to relax and enjoy each other. No matter what she feels special. Ava hopes girls and boys get this special time with their parents…Much Love- Gena and Ava
PS can you spot the editing goofs in my vlog this week? TTFN!!
The Daring Young Girl… March 31, 2011
We have been Unschooling now since September of last year. It’s been delightful watching Ava shed the chains of institutionalization.
She’s come out of her shell and it is OBVIOUS to us that she enjoys the freedoms of Unschooling. The BIGGEST change that I’ve seen in Ava is her becoming more daring. Without a group of peers making judgements that might influence her own, Ava has come out of her princess castle. Recently my sister gave her the “Daring Book for Girls” and Ava is SMITTEN! Thanks Aunt Pootie!
A year ago I think if someone had brought a snake to our house Ava would have run screaming to her room. Funny story, one of my doula clients husbands came by to pick up a breast pump, and he happened to have a snake around his neck! Needless to say, this was a teachable moment. Ava learned quite a bit about snakes in a ten minute visit. The most important thing, in my humble opinion, was that she got a better feel for herself. Now she knows that snakes have soft bellies, but she also knows that she’s brave enough to touch one.

“Bravery is the capacity to perform properly even when scared half to death.”
Remiss March 22, 2011
Ava and I have been jogging together every morning for the last four days and we are working on a number of projects that have been all consuming. Editing video it seems is quite tiresome for the two of us. Ava said once we figure it out it wont be so teeeedeeeeus! (She spelled it like that once.) So all six of you followers, please stay tuned we will have good stuff up in no time! In the mean time here is a beautiful picture of Ava my sis took back in September of 2010

Carrot Soup with Karisa October 27, 2010
We live in Austin Texas now. I learned how to make carrot soup with Karisa. She is my mommy and aunties friend that they made here in Austin. She is a really good cook. She taught me how to make soup and I liked it. At first I didn’t want to get close to the stove, I was going slow when I was cutting and peeling carrots because I was scared I was going to cut myself. But I did not, and then I got close to the stove when I felt braver and she said it was okay. Even though I only had two things to do I had a good time. I am looking forward to cooking with her more. I drank up all the soup it was delicious. More kids should take her class, she teaches classes to kids, private ones like mine. Thank you Karisa! We left for home after the lesson because it was my bedtime.
Karisa’s classes are affordable and fun and now I know I like Carrot Soup! Woo hoo, give her a call, she is nice..(512) 363-6011
Feed Your Soul When You Cook October 12, 2010
Feed Your Soul When You Cook
Sometimes I like to be quiet (Mama is laughing right now), but mostly I like to talk or sing or yell. But I REALLY like to rock out. Here’s a list of songs I recommend you listen to when you cook.
When you make cookies: John Legend – Stay
When You Make Risotto: Foo Fighters – Everlong
When You Make Salad: Tom Petty – American Girl
When Making Any Kind of Fish: Beatles – Octopuses Garden
There’s more, but I’m going scootering now…bye!
My Sunday at Mary’s
The following is dictated from Ava who just wasn’t in the mood to do the blog tonight.
I love my day today. Because I love my grandma Nana. Even though I didn’t see her today I love her. I missed my family today. I went swimming today in the spa at Mary’s house, I bumped my lip and it bled a little. I got to watch T.V. today, I watched Spongebob and played with Pheobe (she’s a dog), she tried to get in my Dada’s car when we left, she smelled a Mc Donalds bag in the car, she was like, “Sniff Sniff I bet there’s food in there”, it was funny. “Can I be done now?” – AVA
Yes baby- Mama
Bronchitis is Poopy
I miss Wylie so much! I think he wants to come to my house so he can catch bugs, watch t.v. make a butterfly out of paper…and maybe draw a little and color and make a dream board with me and mama. I hope he gets better soon. I want him to see Charlize my wonderful cute cute baby, I think Uma gets jealous when me or Dada pick her up and carry her.
